Do you sell live bugs?
Gross! Who wants to touch live... just kidding! We love bugs but we do not sell them online. HOWEVER, many of our products include a mail-in certificate for caterpillars, mealworms, and ladybugs. Check out the Cool Links page to see great places to buy live Creepy Crawlies. TIP: Explore your back yard and collect your own amazing bugs.
I placed an order but haven’t received it yet. What gives?
Orders are processed and shipped 2-4 business days from the date you placed the order. We send all orders via the United States Postal Service USPS Priority Shipping (you do not pay extra for this), which usually takes 2-3 days. It can take longer if you live in certain areas. You can always choose to have your order shipped Express (1-2 Day Delivery). Unfortunately, we have no control over the shipping once it leaves our warehouse. The post office is far from perfect but we have found it to be more reliable and less expensive than FEDEX, DSL, and UPS. We get hundreds of orders a day and we promise to do our best to get your Cool Bug Stuff out as quickly as possible.
I found a Cool Bug. How do I identify it?
There are millions of bugs in the world and identifying them is part of the fun. You can check out our available cool Bug Books for sale, check out our friends at www.whatsthatbug.com, or visit your local library. TIP: Most cities have an Extension Office that can be a wonderful resource.
My Cool Bug Stuff arrived broken. What can I do?
I hate when that happens! We take extra care when packing your order but unfortunately things do get damaged during the shipping process. Contact us right away via telephone or email and we will send you a shipping label to return the item. Once we receive the damaged item we will resend you the same item, minus the damage.
I got bit or stung by a bug. What do I do?
It all depends how bad it hurts. I usually scream and cry like a three-year old when a mosquito bites me (only females will bite – see Cool Bug Facts)! Seriously, if you are allergic to bee stings, if the area swells up, or if you start feeling bad in anyway seek immediate medical attention. Most bugs do not cause serious harm but it is always better to be safe than sorry. TIP: Don’t handle Bees, Wasps, Hornets, Centipedes, Ants, Spiders or Scorpions! TIP #2: It’s a good idea to have Benadryl cream or some other antihistamine cream on hand for the true bug adventurer.
